Ruth Holdorff married to her high school sweetheart Nolan Ryan attended Alvin High School together. Ruth was a high school state tennis champion.

After graduating from Alvin High School, Ruth and Nolan decided to pursue their education at different universities. She earned a scholarship to play tennis at a prestigious college, while Nolan received a football scholarship at a different school.

Despite the distance, their love last strong, and they supported each other's dreams wholeheartedly. Ruth's talent on the tennis court continued to shine, and she became a star player for her college team, winning numerous championships and earning recognition as one of the top collegiate tennis players in the country.

During the offseason, Nolan was a regular pitcher, and Ruth often caught for him. Their sons' minor league teams were coached by Ruth Ryan for a few summers.

On May 17, 2013, he was introduced as the president of the Houston Astros. He currently serves as the CEO of Ryan-Sanders Baseball Inc. He owns the Round Rock Express and Corpus Christi Hooks.
