Asher Yasbincek stars as Harper McLean

Heartbreak High, a Netflix comedy-drama series starring Yasbincek and based on the original series from 1994, came in 2022. At the beginning of the series, Yasbincek's character Harper and her best friend Amerie Wadia (Ayesha Madon) split up just as their sexual adventures map from their senior year becomes viral.

She worked in traffic control when she was cast as Harper. Since joining the reboot, she has watched almost all of the original series on Netflix. She shaved her head in one of her first scenes for the show because her character has a buzz cut. According to Clare Rigden of The West Australian, it "100%" helped her get into character.

Her character describes as, aggressive and quite angry, and that's not untrue, but I think it's her shield that she’s putting up. As the series progresses, you get to see a little bit more of what's underneath that.

For her role in Heartbreak High, Yasbincek bagged the award AACTA Audience Choice Award for Best Actress. The Daily Telegraph named Yasbincek as one of their Breakout Aussie Stars of 2022 for her role.
