In 1978, Mike Bossy won the Calder Memorial Trophy. He attended St. Pius X Comprehensive High School and then Laval Catholic High School. He became the fastest player to reach 500 goals in NHL history on January 2, 1986.

In the same year, he collected his 1,000th regular season point by assisting on a Trottier goal in a 7–5 win against Washington.  He scored 573 goals and had 553 assists in only 752 games. In 129 playoff games, he had eighty-five goals and seventy-five assists.
