Cherry Valentine real name is George Ward. He was a English drag scene performer and a mental health nurse. He catches public eyes after becoming, a contestant of “RuPaul’s Drag Race UK” season 2. He died on Sep 18, 2022 at the age of 28. In a statement released by their agent, Ward's family wrote,

"It is with the most heart wrenching and deepest sadness to inform you that our George — Cherry Valentine — has tragically passed away.

This will come as a profound shock to most people & we understand there is no easy way for this to be announced. As his family, we are still processing his death and our lives will never be the same.

We understand how much he is loved and how many lives he has inspired and touched. All we ask is for your patience and your prayers in this time. We love you Georgie 30 November 1993-18 September 2022."

Cherry Valentine's family and early life

He was born on November 30, 1993 in England. He grew up in an English Traveller community in Darlington. He had always been fascinated by the world of literature and storytelling.

As his father had done, he was expected to develop a career as a mechanic. He used to secretly spent his free time reading classic novels and writing his own short stories.

He had a huge fan following for his over powering personality and talent. He was the first member of his family to attend university, studying mental health nursing. He defines himself as genderfluid and queer.

In Sep 2022, he died at his residence in the north London district of Hornsey. On 9 February 2023, a coroner's inquest was recorded Ward's death as suicide by hanging.

He appeared in documentary film, Cherry Valentine: Gypsy Queen and Proud, in 2022.

"I’d never had open conversations with anyone in my family about my sexuality or gender, apart from my mother. Everyone’s very aware of it, but we don’t talk about it. I haven’t seen some of my family in years. I’ve never physically come out to any of them"
